You didn’t choose me

By March 22, 2023No Comments2 min read

To those who have been born again,

John 15:16
This is Jesus speaking… “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

James 1:18
“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”

God chose you.

John 1:12-13
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

You being born again is a result of God’s will, not your own efforts. God invites us into the Kingdom, and we have the opportunity to say yes or no.

Romans 8:29
“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”

God sees the end from the beginning, and He chose you with full knowledge of how your story will unfold and ultimately conclude. If you had foreknowledge and knew the outcome of the Super Bowl before it was played, you wouldn’t bet on the losing team, would you? No, you’d pick the winner. God possesses that level of knowledge about your life and this world, and He has chosen you. He didn’t choose a loser; He chose a winner.

Embrace the fact that, as a born-again believer in Christ Jesus, you are not a failure or a loser. You may be facing challenging circumstances or dealing with the fallout from sin, but that doesn’t define who you are or determine the ultimate outcome of your story.
